Anti-Americanism?

Do not read if easily offended!

I saw a picture earlier of President Obama playing the Pied Piper to the world and Uncle Sam.
A majority of the comments I saw were anti-American, ripping on President Obama, or a combination of the two.

To all my brothers and sisters overseas and around the world: if you hate America, why? Do you hate the government, the people, the culture? Do you group all of us together as the selfish, over-consumptive pigs that we've been seen as since the late-1940s and '50s when selective obsolete manufacturing took hold and the "golden arrow" of consumerism began to run the nation's economy?

We're not the only country to have problems. Every place in the world has them. America is just so big that our problems seem to translate into the world's problems. Free market economy. That's all I'm going to say.

If you haven't guessed by now, I'm a staunch liberal who firmly believes that the government should turn its face to help its own people before meddling in the affairs of other countries; one that should use words to settle arguments instead of war; one that shouldn't even think of using nuclear energy, coal, natural gas, etc. in lieu of using renewable, alternative energy sources. I believe that same-sex marriage should be legalized. I believe that we - as a country - should turn to a more socialist economy; raise taxes for better living for all.

Instead of making a rift between social classes, races, nationalities, bigger, we should be doing our best to shrink them.

[And no, I don't really care if I offended anyone. I respect your views, and these are mine. If you're going to argue, please at least be respectful. If you don't start cussing, threatening and causing a general ruckus, neither will I.]
